The challenge of preventing climate change requires that all of us do our part. As Nobel Peace Prize winner and former Vice President Al Gore says, it is our moral obligation to do what we can to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This site offers information and advice on what we can do, individually and together, to reduce CO2 emissiions in our homes, our schools, our workplaces and our communities today.
Michigan State University instructor Bonnie Bucqueroux, who trained with Al Gore and The Climate Project in April 2007, has also developed workshops that offer pratical information and advice on dealing with global warming. The first of two three-hour sessions focuses on tips for reducing C02 emissions at home, while saving money in the process. The second session explores ways to make changes in the communtiy, including workplaces and schools. Workshop participants and site visitors can download:
- GLOBAL WARMING: Resources and References - The handout lists Web sites, books, and sources for unique products that can help you reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. (Note that we are not endorsing any of these products. We are merely offering access to information so that you can make up your own mind about them.)
- GREENING YOUR HOME: Checklist of Changes -This handout offers handy tips on reducing CO2 emissions by making changes in your home. It offers practical advice on appliances (refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers), lighting issues, heating and cooling, water heaters, even your driving habits.
- GLOBAL WARMING:- Community Strategies - The S.A.R.A. Model (Dr. Herman Goldstein) and L.I.P.$. (Bonnie Bucqueroux)

OUR GEOTHERMAL WATERFURNACE- The heat of the earth heats our home during the winter, while also contributing to our hot water supply. In the summer, our waterfurance cools our home by sending heat back into the ground. The initial cost is high, but the unit should pay for itself in seven years. It also reduces our C02 emissions the equivalent of removing two cars from the road forever |
LOCALLY GROWN AND SUSTAINABLE - The typical U.S. meal travels 1,200 miles to get to our tables. The realities of global warming mean that we must do better than that. MSU's Student Organic Farm is part of the community-supported agriculture movement, which offers people the chance to enjoy fresh organic fruits and veggies while supporting local growers. | More, more, more![]() Darlene reminds us what really matters - click here to visit her site click on the play button above |
